Welcome to our blog!

I have decided to start a blog as a way to keep the people we love up to date on what is happening in our lives. Really, it's a way for me to keep friends and family in the loop on what is going on with our son, Maddox. Being that everyone is scattered all over the place, I felt that this might be the best way. I will try to keep things as up to date as possible. Feel free to visit, leave comments or completely ignore it. Enjoy!

Nelson Woulfin

It occurred to me that I haven't posted any pictures of our dog Nelson yet. Since he is my mother's favorite thing in the entire world, I figured it's only fair that I post all of his albums as well. He was my first baby, after all. He is really the greatest dog in the world. Stefan found him in the pound in Virginia and he was in his last week before they were going to put him down. Even though we were about to travel out of town, we took him anyway and have never been happier. I have added all of our pictures of him, including some of him and his doggie cousin Kayla (Jason and Staci's dog) although she's a lot bigger now. Enjoy!

Crawling and Cruising, February 2008

Well, Maddox finally got used to crawling and now he's all over the place. We will put him down for 2 seconds and turn around and he's at the fireplace, or banging on the glass entertainment hutch, or pulled in the hallway eating the plant, etc. It looks like our life is over as we now will spend all of our time chasing our little one around :). He is also pulling himself up to standing on anything and everything and even started cruising around a bit. Being that he's only 8mths old, I'm going to have a heart attack if he starts walking soon. I've told everyone not to encourage him, so I guess we'll see.

We had a great weekend including getting Maddox and Brendan Barnes together for the first time. Brendan is only 5 weeks old, so they didn't interact too much, but I know they will soon. It's amazing to think that Maddox was that small 8mths ago. He is an abosolute darling :).

January 2008

The New Year has started off pretty good for us here. Maddox moved up to Level 2 in Gymboree (very exciting) and started swimming lessons. Here are a couple of pictures of our first swim class at the Aquatic Center.

We also had our monthly-ish playdate with all of our playgroup friends at Lara and Jack's house. It was a lot of fun to see all the kids again, and of course I forgot my camera. I turned 32 this month, so Stefan threw my Super Sweet 16x2 Party, which consisted of a few of us having dinner at our place. It was a lot of fun and great to see a lot of people I hadn't seen in a while. We also had our annual tradition of going to Jason and Staci's Super Bowl Party, which was a new and different experience with Maddox. He met a new playmate in Lila who is the daughter of Staci's friend Liann. They seemed to hit it off and had a great time. We got some pictures in the Maddox Month 8 album, so feel free to take a look.

February has started out pretty well for us. Maddox decided to finally start crawling forward and has actually gotten very adept at getting around the house. I put him down and look away for 5 seconds and he's after Nelson. Time to get the gates up! He's also been pulling himself up to standing as well. Now I'm petrified he's going to walk soon. I was a late walker, so I'm hoping it takes him a bit. I don't want to lose my baby so soon :).

We had a great playdate last week at Alice and Abbi's house and I have a couple of pictures below (didn't forget my camera this time...yay!). We are looking forward to a quiet next couple of weeks before Stefan's birthday :).

December 2007

December was a very busy month for us. Maddox turned 6mths old on Dec 11th and we marked the occasion with a photo session. The professional photos didn't turn out as well as I hoped since Maddox wasn't really in the best mood that day, but oh well. We got the go ahead to start on baby food from the pediatrician so we started that too. It has been quite an adjustment for Maddox, but I think he's gotten the hang of it now.

We decided to make the trip up to Maryland for Christmas to see my family. We left on the Thursday evening before Christmas and drove all night. We arrived at my parents' house at 5am. Needless to say I got about 2hrs of sleep that night, but finally recovered by Saturday morning. It was a great trip and we were able to visit with our friends and family. I think it really brought back everyone's enthusiasm for Christmas having the baby around. He really enjoyed the holiday and opening all of his gifts. We enjoyed it too :). The trip seemed to fly by and before we knew it, it was time to head home to Atlanta. We left the day after Christmas and drove the entire day.

We had another Christmas in Atlanta the following Saturday so that Maddox could open his gifts and celebrate with our family here. It was a lot of fun and Maddox really enjoyed opening his gifts again :). The one thing I really took away from the entire experience is how much we all overdid it this year. It was Maddox's first Christmas and I think the excitement surrounding it made everyone go a little crazy. Hopefully we'll all dial it back a bit next year.

We decided to have a laid back New Year's and went to Jason and Staci's house. We had a great time with all our friends playing Scattergories and watching the idiot jump a football field on his motorbike. All in all a great way to ring in 2008. Hopefully 2008 will be a little less exciting for us, yet still filled with great experiences as we go through more of our "firsts" with Maddox.
